Facecloths

While the girls were working I was busy making my Grandmother a birthday present real quick. Her birthday is Monday, August 21st and she will be 85. Of course she has everything and she is tough to buy for but always loves it when I make her something. We have a really big family and I love to suck up whenever I can. And yes, it is a competition in my family and usually I am not into competition but it is fun to see who is the favorite of the month. Maybe it is an Italian thing, I do not know, but it makes for some great laughs.

My first born has a job

And she was not too happy about it. But she did sort of posed for this picture.

Sal said she did well on her first day. It was an outdoor wedding and Jaime said there were a "lot of cute guys". So maybe she will enjoy this job. Sara also started today, (Sal's daughter), she is a month and a day older than Jaime.

Sara LOVES to pose for pictures!!!!

They both did great.

My First Born is 16

Jaime is 16 today. I told her she is 12 and I am sticking to it. She cannot be 16. If she is 16 that means I am 4 years older also. She nows has her driving permit passed the test with a 100, can't pass any other test with a 100 but can pass this one with 100. Isn't that interesting.

I did not get to finish her lime green and orange purse for the big day but I showed her how it looks and she was happy with the results. She wants to pick out the lining anyway. God forbid I pick out the wrong black and white check pattern. I explained that I had to help a very good friend with a knitting project and do some marathan knitting that had to be done and she understood. As long as the purse is done by school she will be happy.

Finish What You Started

A word of advice, never leave projects undone for long periods of time. I did this and my tension change. This happenend to me a couple of times. First with my Hanne Falkenburg scarf and then now with my Butter and Jam sweater. I started the second sleeve, just about done, then notice the other sleeve and how loose the tension was on it. Not just a little either, a lot. The sleeve is about 3 inches longer than the other one. And it is only on the yellow cable part. The cap pattern parts are both the same. I do not know. Well, I do know, time to rip and do over. No more putting off till later.

Some Knitting Pics

I still did not get my cameras back but here are some pictures Jodi took for me.

This is the Mason Dixon washcloth. I used the Mission Falls cotton. I just love this book.

This is the pre-felted bag for Miss Jaime. It is lime green and orange. The colors are really more vibrant in person but you can sort of get the jist. This yarn is cool, it is called Lobster Pot. It is hand dyed in a lobster pot and air dried in the Cape Cod sea salt air. The kid better like it.

Finally, one sock, still working on the other one. This is my take along project that I keep in my purse when I go to doctor office visits and what not. The other one will be done by the Fall so I can wear them. They feel so comfy.

Wish I had a Camera

I had four digital cameras, now I have three. Miss Jaime lost one of the cameras, somewhere; maybe I will find it in her room when I finish cleaning it.

In my possession, at this particular time I have 1, an old Fugi, one meg that uses 4 AA batteries and weighs a ton. A camera phone takes better pictures than the Fugi. Where are the other cameras? My lovely children who are on vacation, that I so missed yesterday, have them and left me with the crappy camera.

How come no one can lose that camera? I walk in the kitchen and there it is, I see it everyday, can’t lose it. I need to start taking my own pictures instead of bothering Jodi to take them and emailing them to me. But whenever I do get the cameras back, the batteries are dead and no batteries in the house. I can’t stand it.

Where are my Children

The kids have been gone for 5 days and I am lost. Literally lost. Is this ridiculous or what? This is the first time in 16 years that both kids are gone at the same time. Is this how it is going to feel when they leave the nest in a few years? Boy, I hope not.

I did accomplish cleaning Cameron’s room already. And guess what? He has a floor. I also found out, he has a floor with no rug. The rug was moved to the “band room” under his drum set which is more important than having a rug in his room, I guess. Oh well, off to the store, to get a rug, maybe a shag rug to match his shaggy hair.

The Latest

This is the Log Cabin so far. I am really starting to like it. No counting stitches, no reading a pattern all the time, nice mindless knitting that really goes fast.

Where I Teach

Someone left a comment wanting to know where I teach knitting and if I taught crochet. Yes, I also teach crochet, I have been crocheting most of my life and it is also coming back in style, like knitting. To answer the other the other part of the question, the place that has been keeping me soooooooo busy is

Sit N Knit

on 33 LaSalle Rd., West Hartford, CT, USA. I teach there after 5 on weeknight and on Sundays. I also have been filling in on Saturdays the past couple of weeks. I like to teach the new knitters and crochets especially when they say "wow I did it"
